For kids 5 to 13

This class fits if...

  • Your kid has more energy than the afternoon can hold.
  • You want them tough and grounded, not mean.
  • You want to see who's coaching them. You can.

What parents tell us

"My kid needs something to keep him busy and out of trouble."

The screen is on by 4pm, and the hours until dinner go nowhere good. That energy has to go somewhere.

How the kids class runs

From the front door to the team

  1. Ask for a free class

Send the form or call (209) 889-5800. Coach K replies within one day.

  2. Learn to tap first

Before any rolling, your kid learns how to tap, so they always know how to say stop.

  3. Drill and roll with a partner

Kids pair up and work the move Coach K just showed. Beginners get partners who go easy.

  4. Keep coming back

Gi on Tuesday and Thursday, no-gi on Friday, all at 5pm.

  5. Join the team, if they want to

Kids who want to compete can move onto the youth team. Nobody has to.

Questions parents ask

Before your kid's first class

How old does my kid need to be?

Kids Jiu-Jitsu is for ages 5 to 13. If your kid is close to either end, call (209) 889-5800 and talk it over with Coach K.

Will my kid get hurt?

Every kid learns to tap before they roll, so they always have a way to stop. Coach K runs the class himself, beginners are paired with partners who go easy, and you're welcome to watch.

Will jiu jitsu make my kid more aggressive?

The goal is a kid who's steadier and kinder, not meaner. Coach K grew up in Stockton and built this gym to give back to it. Watch any class and see for yourself.

Does my kid have to compete?

No. The youth team is there for kids who want it. Kids who don't want to compete just keep coming to class.

How much is the kids program?

Your kid's first class is free, with no card needed. Membership prices aren't posted online. Coach K goes over the options with you at the gym after the free class, or call or text (209) 889-5800 to ask first.

What should my kid wear?
